Hello. I am Martin Samford, a 5’9 140lb 2nd/ OF. I am a hard-working student-athlete who is dedicated to playing at the next level. During my 10-year baseball career, I have achieved many of my goals. I have been team captain for the Texas Scrappers, and as a freshman, I started every game on my high school varsity team. I took all honor classes in my freshmen year and I am taking AP classes starting my sophomore year. I plan to major in the field of engineering.
I am still open to where I want to go to college. I am currently thinking about geography, student size, and types of schools to see what the best fit would be to combine baseball and my academic career.
Baseball has been great for me. It has shown me the importance of hard work and preparation that allows you to perform at another level, so when I leave it all on the field, I feel confident in my achievements. Baseball has made me a leader on the field, taught me how to communicate and work as a team, showed me how to overcome adversity, and allowed me to grow and develop as a student-athlete and a person. In return, I have been a leader for my teams, and have helped my teammates achieve their goals, both on the field and in the classroom.
