My name is Colton Schuchart and I'd like to thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I am proud to be a Christian who possesses strong family values.
At four years old I was able to join my first t-ball team. Not long after, I started playing soccer and basketball as a kindergartner. Through years of playing multiple sports and going to my older siblings' games, my baseball talents caught the eye of a coach. He happened to watch my dad and I working on fundamentals during my big brother's baseball practices. Years later, at the age of eight, my parents received a call from that coach asking if I would be interested in taking pitching lessons. That's where it all began.
During my 6th grade year I began having horrible pain in both of my feet. It hurt to run, and walking was even a challenge. Through a doctor we discovered it was caused by a birth defect. This caused me to have two surgeries where they were able to rebuild the arches that I did not have. After twelve months on crutches and walking with a boot, I was able to pick up where I left off and was stronger than ever before. I played football, basketball and even ran track the next year. That year, I was asked by my pitching coach to play select baseball. After years of little league, I was ready for a change. That helped me to be prepared for high school and for what was about to come. Jumping to my freshman year, I lettered in football, basketball, baseball, track and golf. I went to the playoffs in all three sports where we ended up Bi-District champs in both basketball and baseball. I also went to Area for two relays in track and Regionals as an individual and team for golf. This year has been even more successful. Each sport has molded me in a different way. There is always room for improvement, and there will always be someone out there that will be better than me. Therefore, it is my responsibility to dedicate myself to practicing as much as possible to enhance my abilities.
Although I play many sports, baseball has always been my first passion. I hope to graduate high school as part of the National Honor Society with a few college courses under my belt. After graduation, I would like to play college baseball somewhere and continue my education to become a physical therapist.
In closing, should I be selected to play college baseball, I will not only do my best, but I will strive to make my family, team and university proud.
