Dear Prospective Coach,
I am looking for the opportunity to be part of a school and program that has a good reputation, a solid academic program with a great business department and an athletic program that is committed to being competitive. I would also like for the athletic program and coaching staff to share my moral compass, support me in achieving my academic and athletic goals, and to be a positive influence on my life and future.
Throughout my life I have been most influenced by my relationship with God, my close family members, many of my coaches, and my fellow team mates throughout the years. The other area of important influence in my life has been the competitive nature of the sports that I have played (baseball, football, and basketball) and the enjoyment that I get from being part of a team and the thrill of competing at the highest level that I can. The combination of these influences has helped me become a leader by example and a dedicated student-athlete. My parents often tell me that people comment on how I leave everything I have on the field and that I never give up. These are character traits that I believe have helped me be successful both on and off the field are seen through my actions.
I was drawn to baseball when I was very young as I watched my older sister play softball. Since that time and with every season that passes, my love for the game grows because of my competitive nature, the team comradery and the fulfillment that the sport provides through preparation, practices and games. Throughout my sports career I have often been told that “you can’t do ……” or “you are not built to be a …..”. These are statements that continue to motivate me to become better, work hard, and accomplish my long term athletic and academic goals. I am proud of all that I have accomplished during my short sports and academic career with hard work, pain, sweat, persistence, and dedication. I have learned that success is not given; it must be worked for and earned.
I believe that I am a good leader on and off the field and can contribute to your team in many ways. My high school coaches and travel team coaches rely on me to stand up and be a leader and I know that I can bring that to your program. I believe that my tenacious and competitive mindset, responsible nature, and integrity are qualities that set me apart from other athletes on the field. In the classroom I am dedicated to giving my best all of the time which has helped me maintain a solid GPA. I enjoy learning and am excited about continuing my education in college to prepare me for my future career in business.
I know I would be an asset to your program and look forward to an opportunity to be considered for your program. Thank you for your time.
