My name is Nick West, and I’m a right-handed pitcher from Nacogdoches, Texas. My goal for college is to balance my baseball and academic (pre-law) careers. I have invested much of my time into one or the other, whether it be music, weightlifting, arm care, or extra academic events. I strive to be the best version of myself in every aspect of my life. Every time I’ve had to step back on the mound after giving up an extra-base hit, I face the next batter with enough confidence and focus to keep that runner from scoring. Whether it’s the hours I put in studying to bring my spelling team to the UIL state competition, the many pages of piano music I’ve had to memorize for festivals and recitals over the past 8 years, or loading five more pounds onto the squat bar, I believe in doing more than the last time. Locating my slider one more inch off the black of the plate. Starting to study for a test a week earlier. Putting in an extra hour on the piano bench. I always give everything my all, having confidence in myself every step of the way.
