Personal Statement

My name is James Perez from Canyon High School in New Braunfels, TX. I’m a 6’3" – 230 pound Junior with a persistent work ethic - in my athletics, academics and especially my spiritual life. I am very grounded in my Christian faith and thank God for my family, my Christian friends and the talents He has blessed me with. I was the starting Catcher on my JV high school team as a Freshman, starting catcher on Varsity as a Sophomore (HM All- District), starting 1B as a Junior (1st Team All-District)  and  starting 1B as a Senior (1st Team All State).  I have been the third and four hole hitter for years because of my patience at the plate, bat speed and power.

I have always wanted to play baseball at the next level. Watching college and minor league games gave me the desire to work hard so I may achieve that goal one day. I have always had the drive to work harder than athletes on my team, and I was once nicknamed “the hardest working kid in the area.” Even when my team loses, I motivate them to go out and get a win the next game. I work equally as hard in the classroom as I make grades just as important as my athletics.

I have had the opportunity to learn the game from many great coaches and personal trainers. I know without them, I wouldn’t be the player that I am today. But there’s always more to learn. When I’m not playing baseball, football or in school, I enjoy working out.  I lift weights, run, and do speed and agility training. My faith is also very important to me so I am active on mission trips, Bible camps, work camps, outreach ministry, teaching Bible lessons, and helping at my church as often as I can with my Youth Minister.

I am looking for a college with a strong academic program as well as a competitive athletic program. My goal is to play college baseball and pursue a Bachelor’s degree in sports medicine or management. I simply love playing this game!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
