My name is DeMarcos Isaiah Gonzalez. I am 17 years old, 5’9” 150 senior. I thrive on my work ethic to get ahead of the competition. I don’t ever feel that any challenge is impossible that is placed before me. I am inspired by those around me that believe in me and push me to leave a positive impact on others. I am also driven by those who doubt my ability. What those critics don’t know is that nothing has ever come easy for me. I know I have to work harder than my peers, and I can’t make any fundamental mistakes so I could make it to the next level. I am a third year starter, on varsity at my high school team Premont Collegiate in Premont, TX. I have started every game in my high school career and I have earned that opportunity. I have been working on my craft on the diamond since I was 5 years old. I learned to play anywhere on the field to earn my at bats. I have traveled from coast to coast and played with and against the best baseball players in the country.
I am a multi sport high school athlete. I play football, basketball, run cross country, track, powerlifting, golf and baseball. As a freshman I qualified for regionals in both cross country and powerlifting. I was named All District 2nd baseman and our team was the district champions. My sophomore year I was a state qualifier in cross country, regional qualifier in powerlifting and first team all district 2nd baseman. As a junior, a two time state qualifier in cross country and named 2nd team all district in basketball. I am the district champion for the 3200 meter run in track. Area runner up and rational qualifier. This past baseball season I was named the 2024 district offensive player of the year. So far as a senior I qualified for to State in cross country for the third consecutive year and honored with 1 team all state All academic. I was named 2nd team all district quarterback and also received 1 team all state All academic honors for football.
I don’t just excel in sports. I excel in the classroom. I am currently ranked number two and I have a 99.444 GPA. In our household education is extremely important; my mom and dad have college degrees. At my high school, Premont Collegiate, I have the opportunity to physically attend college courses on campus. I have to show up at my school at 7:00am and we are bused to Texas A&M University Kingsville where I attend an 8:00am class. In the fall of 2021, I attended Texas A&M University Kingsville and spring 2022 Texas A&M Corpus Christ, back to Kingsville for the fall 2022 semester. I still have to put in the work in the classroom and at practice for whatever season I am in. I know I can be a great team contributor and representative of any program given an opportunity.
