Each day, I come in with a positive attitude, trying to get better. This approach has made me successful in my studies which is most important, but also helped in maintaining eligibility to participate in the activities I also enjoy.
Over the years, certain subjects have inspired me to pursue a collegiate education in one of two career fields: animal science and wildlife management. I enjoy the tangible work and the science they involve as well as the health, safety and enrichment of animals.
I have a wild imagination and am captivated by the historical presence of dinosaurs and ice age mammals. Diving into paleontology studies on fossils is one of my favorite hobbies. It would likely be a career choice if I thought the paleontologist world had more abundant jobs available.
Sports have always played an integral part in my life. I’ve been involved in team activities since I was able to walk. When I was younger, my mother put me in all different types of sports to give me the opportunity to choose one or two to focus on. I quickly realized baseball is the one that I am truly passionate about and excel at and I love the physicality of football. I enjoy studying the games, my role in the sport to help my team and the camaraderie of being a good teammate.
While I continue to play football and strive to be a positive influence for my peers, baseball is my athletic focus. I’ve primarily been starting catcher for recreational, club, and high school teams. With the urging of coaches, I also became an infield utility player and did some pitching to broaden my knowledge of the game. I was the first player in my age group to successfully throw the curve ball with repeated accuracy. Coaches have commended me on keeping a level head during tough game situations and leading the team with encouragement.
Each and every day, I prepare. I prepare for a higher education. I prepare to be a better student and even better adult. I prepare to be the best athlete I can be. I prepare to finish everything I started. And I prepare to WIN no matter what it is I dream of achieving.
