Personal Statement

Since I first stepped on the diamond, I have aspired to play at the collegiate level. I know that playing baseball in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that will change my life forever. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates to do the same. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find in and out the classroom. In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA.  I'm currently taking advanced classes to better prepare myself for college and what it has to offer. I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the field. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible.  Since getting involved in the Prep Baseball Report in February I have made the following impacts on my baseball career thus far.

Nationally Ranked 121 for Class 2021 overall and 17th overall for my primary position.

  • Jaron McNeil-Ward is a 2021 OF/UT with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from North Dinwiddie, VA who attends Dinwiddie. Tall and athletic build has outstanding physical projection remaining. Plus runner, 6.61 in the sixty. Shows high-level athleticism in the outfield, very good footwork through the ball with a smooth and quick transition to throwing, shows good arm strength, and makes accurate throws, speed and quickness give him plus next-level range. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance, fluid and tension free swing with plenty of bat speed, can back spin the ball with plus carry, swings with intent and confidence. Very good student, verbal commitment to Virginia Tech. Named to the Coastal Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.

  • McNeil was probably the 2021 that stood out the most at the event and for good reason, he had a very good day all around. He had one of the top arms from the outfield, with a quick arm hitting 87. Tons of athleticism, ran 4.0 home to first and had one of the longest broad jumps at the event. At the plate, he is very short to the ball, staying inside with his swing. Line drive hitter now who works gap to gap. Frame has a ton of projection left to it, he could easily develop doubles power to all fields or better. On the mound, fastball was 80-82 with a short arm action. Feel for two offspeed pitches and a breaking ball that projects to be very good. Very intriguing prospect with a ton of developing left to do.
  • Camp/Event
  • 2017 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
  • 8/18/17 to 8/20/17
  • Jaron McNeil is a 2021 OF/RHP, SS with a 6-0 135 lb. frame from Dinwiddie, VA who attends Dinwiddie HS. Recorded a 7.17 second 60-yard dash time. Medium frame with a very lanky and wiry build, tons of room left to add strength. Primary outfielder with good athleticism and shorter path to release. Over the top arm slot with accurate throws across. Arm strength registered up to 77 mph across with good feel for the position; would benefit from getting throws lower to the ground. Secondary infielder whose athleticism plays well at the position. Under control with good footwork through the throws. Fields out in front and stays low through the throw. Secondary righthanded pitcher with an online arm action and very short arm circle. Over the top arm slot and fastball showed natural cutting life. Leg lift above the belt and coils back at the gather over the rubber. Mixed in 12/6 curveball and pitching to contact is the approach. Righthanded hitter with a slightly open stance with a high hand set and high back elbow. Inside path to contact and keeps hands close to the body. Upper half dominant swing with balance throughout and an upright stance. Great student.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
