Matt Jones '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Matthew Jones and I am a Junior RHP (2022). I currently stand 6’3” and weigh 165 Lbs. I attend South County High School in Lorton, VA, where I have a 3.4 cumulative GPA and a 3.8 GPA in my current classes. The travel team that I play for is Ace Elite 17U. This season I have posted a 0.00 ERA, .087 opposing batting average, 1.143 WHIP, and 8 strikeouts in 7.0 IP. I currently train with Coach Chris Giblin, an associate scout for the Tampa Bay Rays. He has clocked me at a top velocity of 82.8 mph and a 60 yard dash time of 6.9 seconds. My pitching repertoire currently includes a fastball, slider and changeup mix.

I believe that what makes me different from other recruits is my willingness to win. When playing in most of my games, I'm put into difficult situations with numerous runners on base, yet I'm not intimidated by the circumstances and relentlessly go after the opponent regardless of what the score of the game is. 

I am interested in playing in college so that I can challenge myself academically, athletically, and mentally. My specific academic interests include marketing, economics,  and business management.
