My name is Kendren Gullo and I am 16 years old. I was born in Eau Claire and live about 20 minutes north of there in a smaller city called Chippewa Falls.
When I was 7 years old my parents got divorced and I live with my dad most of the time but I love both of my parents very much.
I have played baseball my entire life from playing in my back yard with my dad since I was old enough to swing a bat and throw a ball he also coached me. Even though I didn’t play tee ball I made the Allstar team since I started to play in league at age 10. Now in the summer for the past 2 years I have played on our American Legion team this year we were so close to state! I enjoy playing on that team because it not only challenges me but as a child of not just one but two parents that are US Army veterans I have the upmost respect for God and Country!
I love the game so much that I have worked with many hours with my neighbor who was adopted from another country teaching him how to play little league baseball.
As a freshman I was leading off for varsity and playing shortstop. At the end of the year I lead the team in batting with an average of 406. I played in 21 games, PA 80, AB 64, 23 Runs, 26 hits, 22 singles and and 4 doubles. With 9 RBIs. I had to work hard because we had 10 seniors that year. One other reason I made the starting lineup was the fact that my day tought me how to play every position. I started that year in the outfield but early on was asked if I could play infield? I said “ where do you need me?” So I tried out at shortstop and played there the rest of the year we made the playoffs and won our regional but missed state by one run! I would like to add that I pitch a lot in legion as one of our top starters and did last year as well on our highschool team.
My goal is to make my parents proud along with doing my best in all three sport. I obviously play baseball along with basketball and football unfortunately last year as a sophomore our school couldn’t feild enough player for 11 man football so at the last minute they canceled the season. I ended up enrolling at Regis high school in Eau Claire WI with hopes of playing football there and transfering for the remainder of my hi school years. I was told because I didn’t have an opportunity to play football at our school along with the fact that I had not yet started my sophomore school year I would be eligible to play all varsity sports. However because of a technicality with my enrollment papers and the fact that I started practicing three days before school the WIA would not allow me to play any varsity sports if I stayed at Regis high school. So all of this being said I was forced to transfer back to McDonnell after the first quarter so that I could play varsity basketball and baseball.
Fortunately this year we were able to start eight-man football and I am starting quarterback, kicker, punter, and defensive back as well as linebacker when needed.
While I love all three sports baseball is my favorite and in my own opinion is the sport I am best at.
I learned through baseball that I am a great leader and when my teammates aren’t motivated I find a way to motivate them to do their best and hopefully the score on the scoreboard will turn out in our favor. If not at least I know I did all I could to be a positive role model.
My freshman year academically was not my best. I had good grades but not nearly what I am capable of. Last year was better where I was just shy of a 3.0. This year (my junior year) I have gotten off to a great start with all but 2 A’s. I strive to be a 3.6 or higher GPA student. No not 3.5, 3.6. I want to exceede the 3.5 deadline. I strive for the best. Not the second or third best I want to be the best I can possibly be in everything I do. I believe that I can be a great teammate by supporting my teammates when they not only do good but when they make mistakes to lift them up and move on to the next pitch or the next at bat! To not focus on the negative because we are only as good as our next pitch, at bat or play in the field.
My friends all tell me that I have a certain energy that just makes people happy. While I me be sarcastic and funny at times I also know when to be serious because there is a right time for everything.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile and if you have any questions please let me know and I will soon have some videos up so please stay posted. - I firmly believe that I can be a great asset to any team not just with my athletic abilities but also with my positive work ethic and attitude!
Sincerly,
Kendren Gullo
