My name is Carter Schneider and will graduate in 2020. I have played both basketball and baseball my whole life but baseball has always been my true passion. I love all aspects of the game especially the mental side. I played shortstop and pitched for most of the teams I have been on. However I’m versatile and can play any position in the infield. I want to continue to play baseball at the next level and major in health and human performance . I’m also extremely interested in coaching baseball in the future.
Freshman year I started at shortstop and was the ace for our junior varsity team. I was moved up to varsity for the playoffs and was put in to play 2nd base in the 7th inning of a tied game which then went to extra innings. After my freshman year i played for 16u Janesville legion while pitching i only had one earned run all season while batting leadoff all year.
My sophomore year will be one I never forget. I worked really hard to make my goal of being a starter on varsity. This was a challenge on a team that had 13 seniors. With a third year starter at shortstop I made the move to 2nd base for the high school season and had four appearances on the mound including two starts. We had a remarkable run as a team going on a twelve game winning streak that ended in the sectional final game. Sectional day I went 3-5 with 2 runs scored in the two games and gunned a runner out at home to preserve a one run lead.
As the only returning starter I’m looking forward to the challenges with a young inexperienced team and new coaching staff for my junior year. I welcome being the leader as I have done in the past on other teams in both basketball and baseball. This offseason i have talked many times with the new coach and helped make the transition into a new coaching staff better for both players and coaches. I enjoy teaching the younger players which is why I really want to get into coaching. I will be moving back to shortstop for my junior year high school season and expect to get regular opportunities on the mound. I will be playing for Team Heat this summer.
While being in sports I am also in DECA where I get out in the community and help people in many ways. Sometimes we go to middle and elementary schools and help volunteer with many events. We also get out in the community and help with bags of hope and other similar organizations.
