Personal Statement

My collegiate goal is to graduate from college with a degree in sports management and to play baseball at the next level for a quality program.

I would be a good candidate for a college team because of my leadership. My leadership isn't only shown on the baseball field it is also shown in the classroom through my willingness to help others with their work and it is shown on the baseball diamond through willingness to help my team in any situation. My teammates thought I was a good fit to be voted the team captain of my high school baseball team.

What makes me different from other recruits is that I'm willing to help anyone with their academic and athletic performance.

  • Hand Eye Coordination - Excellent hand-eye coordination. Shows an ability to read balls/strikes easily. Making solid contact at the plate + ability to track balls down/pick balls cleanly in the field. Stance - Great firm stance when in the box. Looks comfortable in their own unique swing. Mechanics are sound. Ball Reading Ability - Great job at reading the trajectory and speed of the ball as it is hit can get into position to make the play more effectively. This requires good anticipation skills and quick reactions. Fielding - Quickly react to balls hit back to them and make accurate throws to first base or other fielders. Endurance - Great work rate throughout camp. Showed endurance that helped effectiveness, especially late. Arm Strength - Great speed overall, in particular with footwork to get into position. Will be an important asset going forward. Competitiveness - Showed a strong desire to win and seems to enjoy the competition. Keep working hard! Coachability - Responds well to coaching. Asked good questions and seemed to enjoy the learning process. Mason is a very competitive and coachable player. He was comfortable asking questions, getting feedback, and learning how to apply. He is a strong player with a good build. I think he will have much success at the next level.
