I have been a part of cheerleading programs for the past eleven years and would love the opportunity to continue cheering throughout my college years. For the past six years, I have been at a competitive cheer gym and since my second year at the gym, I have been placed on senior-aged teams. I believe being on these teams from a young age has allowed me to observe and then emulate the older girls' leadership skills. Now, being a 4 year veteran on my level 3 team, I am able to lead with the same skills that I started observing in fifth grade. My coaches can rely on me to hold myself and my team accountable when it matters most. I believe I would be able to do the same on a college cheer team. While I am a rookie/ underclassman I will observe the veterans and then as I gain experience on the team I can step up as a leader while always holding myself accountable. I think I am able to stand out compared to other candidates because I have a good work ethic and have been able to handle my school work while double teaming at my gym, and coaching a prep team. Especially this year, during my first semester I achieved a 4.3 gpa while traveling and being in the gym up to 10 hours a week. As an athlete I also believe I stand out because I always give 110% at practice and am always trying to improve in any way I can.
