Hi, my name is Kiera Donnelly and I am 17-years old and I will attend Mission Vista High School in Oceanside, California as an 12th grader for this 24-25 school year. This school year, I will take AP Psychology, AP Environmental Science, AP English Literature, AP Government/Economics, Financial Algebra, Choir and Teacher Assistant for Criminology class, in a 4x4 schedule. I have been nominated by one of my teachers for The National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS), I am a member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF) and I have been a Student Ambassador for my school. When I graduate from high school, I would like to attend a 4-year university or state college and possibly pursue a law or English degree.
Besides playing field hockey, I keep busy with school clubs/activities (I am Vice President for Letters of Hope, leadership for Athletes club, member of HOSA and Make a Wish club), play violin, read, spend time with my dog, travel and spend time with my friends. This summer I traveled to Japan for an educational tour with my classmates. This past school year I participated in the HOSA state competition for the Medical Law and Ethics division and placed in the top 10. I have previously enjoyed volunteering as a middle school field hockey coach/referee, working at the YMCA as a Leader in Training, MVHS blood drives and at the Ivey Ranch Equestrian Center and North County Food Bank. I am currently working part time as a teacher at gymnastics club.
For field hockey, I am a 4-year starting captain and midfielder for MVHS and I also play in the midfield position for my club team, RUSH, in San Diego. I am an excellent candidate for a college field hockey team because I am a dynamic player, I have a strong work ethic, I have good physical endurance, I am a smart player on the field and I do well with setting up plays for goals. I am working to improve my knowledge of the game and become faster with my play on the field and I have traveled to Netherlands to train with my club team. As a team player, I believe in leading by example, having good communication skills with the team players/coaches as well as having a positive spirit on and off the field.
I look forward to updating you about my progress and development with field hockey!
