Rachel Gilio '22 Recruiting Profile

My passion for field hockey began the moment I touched a field hockey stick at the age of 6. Ever since then I could not get enough of the sport. I have been a member of my club team since 6th grade. I have played on my school’s high school varsity team since Freshman year, so playing with older girls has shaped me as a player and a person. Now, I am one of the leaders on my team. This opportunity has taught me that perseverance and a good attitude can determine the difference in a win and a loss. Though my school is small, our positive attitude and grit have led us to a winning record. Frequently, I have been traveling 2 or more hours to compete at tournaments for my club team, all within the northeast. This has helped me further develop my skills and passion for the sport. Every day I strive to get stronger, play smarter, and become a better player. I am interested in taking my field hockey to the collegiate level. I am looking for a program that will challenge me academically and athletically. My tenacity and desire to succeed would make me a great addition to your team!
