My journey with field hockey is different from most others. I didn't start playing until my freshman year of high school, in a sport where most people start in middle school or earlier. Starting later made me want to improve as fast as possible. Although it was frustrating at first, I eventually loved the sport and caught on quickly. I am very coachable because I have a constant desire to improve. I'll never give up until I can be the best player possible. I've been lucky enough to have the most supportive coaches and teammates who have always been encouraging and willing to help me. I've grown a lot as a person from field hockey--learning that hard work will always pay off. This year, my team's goal is to win the 2016 WCAC Championship, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure we get there. I have a "can-do" attitude and I believe I have the work ethic and drive to compete on the collegiate level. I am the player that comes early and stays late, and practices even on a rare day off. It would be such an honor to continue playing after high school, and I will do whatever it takes to make that possible.
When I'm not on the field or training, I can be found volunteering with KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now), a program that engages disabled children in sports and other physical activity. I can also be found working as a student ambassador and showing perspective families how great my school is. I am also a member of the Peer Ministry group, which promotes spiritual life activities on campus. In addition, this year, I am a 2017 Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Student of the Year Candidate. In January, I will be participating in a campaign to raise as much money for LLS as possible. With the help of my campaign teammates, I will be responsible for planning fundraisers and raising as much money as I can. My goal is to raise at least $30,000, and I believe there is nothing stopping me from accomplishing this.
