My name is Elena Cucci and I am the graduating class of 2025. I’ve been hitting a field hockey ball around ever since I could walk and I’ve been playing on an organized team since Kindergarten and I just knew that I would play it forever. This year as a Junior I am a Varsity captain and love assisting my coaches in leading practice. Leadership has always been a big part of who I am as an athlete. I always try my best to set a positive example for my teammates. Whenever my teammates have a question I have found that they prefer to come to me to answer it, I am always happy helping a fellow teammate with any field hockey related questions. I am committed to helping others on and off the field as much as I can. Along with my leadership abilities I have great strength in my coachability. I am always excited to learn and improve and work to become the best athlete I can be and to contribute to the success of the team. I have dedicated myself to increasing my speed, agility, and endurance. Whether it’s sprinting down the field to make a crucial defensive stop or executing a perfectly timed pass to set up a scoring opportunity, I am confident in my ability to make a helpful impact on the field. I am also incredibly good at predicting plays and passes which makes me very good at flying and trailing during penalty corners and leading our defense in clearing and carrying the ball out of the circle, up the field, and to our forwards. I play field hockey all year round with many different people and in many different positions which made me very good at adjusting on the fly to any situation I'm put in. I also started playing ice hockey two years ago, as a center and left wing, which has only increased my flexibility and athletic ability. In addition to my athletic achievements, I put great effort into my academic pursuits. I maintain a strong GPA and participate in National Honors Society, National Art Honors Society, and Tri-M Music Honors Society, showcasing my dedication to not only excelling in sports, but also in the classroom and the arts. With school, field hockey, ice hockey, and playing the baritone saxophone all year round, I have become very proficient at managing the balance between school and sports. I am extremely excited about the opportunity to contribute to your field hockey program anyway I can with my strong leadership skills, coachable attitude, exceptional athleticism, and a passion for bringing a team together. My ability to link the offense and defense as a midfielder, move the ball effectively between fields, and support my teammates on and off the field, sets me apart as a well-rounded player. Alongside my commitment to academic excellence, I am confident that I can make a positive impact on and off the field, and I am eager to continue my journey as a student-athlete at the collegiate level.
