Hi, my name is Eve Lescovitz and I am currently a junior at Revere High School in Revere, Massachusetts. I play varsity softball and field hockey, and also decided to try running track this year as well. I knew I loved playing field hockey after I decided to join the team on a whim because lots of my friends played it and I wanted to try out a new sport. Even though I had been playing softball my whole life, field hockey quickly became my favorite sport. I loved the rigor and excitement of trying a new sport in high school. Being new to the sport as a teenager made me want to work as hard as I could to improve my skills. I aspire to play in college competitively on hopefully a Division II or III team. I hope to go to college for criminal justice and become a defense attorney in Boston, and to help achieve that goal I have been improving my leadership skills by going to leadership seminars for other kids like me who enjoy helping others. I believe I am a good candidate for any team because I take criticism well, I always know a coach wants the best for me and whatever they tell me is nothing to hurt me personally but only to help me get better. I also always make sure to have a positive attitude no matter how bad I am playing or practicing because having a negative attitude can catch on to your teammates and affect everyone else's game, not just my own. When I make a mistake, I know slumping around feeling bad for myself is selfish and does not get the team anywhere so I always try to pick myself back up. I love being part of a team and making new friends, and I believe being a good teammate is the most important part of playing a sport. I am different from other recruits because of my perseverance, others may get down on themselves easily but I always try and persist no matter how vigorous the sport might be. I am also different because due to my experience in sports I am capable of recognizing what I did wrong and correcting myself as soon as possible because practice doesn't make perfect if you are practicing wrong. Academically, I am unique because I am able to manage keeping up my grades while playing three sports. I have always loved school, and my grades are just as important to me than winning the next game or scoring the next goal. I am super interested in history so I have taken two APs throughout my high school career, US and World. I have been able to maintain over a 4.0 GPA out of 5.0 for the past three years and remain in the top 10 in my class. Playing field hockey in college has been a goal I have been working towards for over the past year and I hope I am given the opportunity when the time comes!
