My name is Kendall Gates, and I am a member of the class of 2025. I go to Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham, MA and I am the starting center midfielder for our varsity field hockey team since I began high school. My position has been midfield, but I have also played some forward and defense on my club teams. Ultimately, I am willing to play wherever I am needed on the field. Beyond the high school season I play on the Strikers club team, based out of Central & Eastern MA. Playing for my club team allows me to stay in shape, sharpen my skills and provide a higher level of competition. I also volunteer to help coach for a 5th/6th grade team in my town. I enjoy coaching the girls and pass on techniques, learnings that I’ve picked up over the years.
As a player, I am always working on my skills through clinics, camps, and just regularly in my driveway. For fitness, I work out several days a week with a trained at Total Fitness Performance, attend off season workouts with my team, play indoor and outdoor track & field for the high school, ski, and golf. I am always accepting opportunities for real game experience, accepting invitations to join Summer league 7x7s, clinics, and showcases. I appreciate feedback, and have been told I am very coachable. Something I have carried over from my days in competitive gymnastics. I believe I can add value to any team because of my work ethic, collaboration, motivation, care and focus both on and off the field and in the classroom.
Field Hockey has been an important part of my life since I picked up a stick for the first time in 6th grade. I would love an opportunity to continue my play at the collegiate level.
