My name is Hudson Zivic, and I am part of the Class of 2023 at Bronxville High School. Throughout my childhood, I tried soccer, lacrosse, track, etc., and none made me feel confident and part of a family. That wasn't because I was not athletic but because my support and ultimate growth were when I played field hockey. I started playing field hockey in 7th grade, and since it has helped me grow as an athlete, friend, and teammate. I wouldn't have relationships with individuals who are essential to me and my character if it weren't for teams. Something that has stood out about this sport is its ability to bring people together on and off the field, where without it, you wouldn't have even said hello in the hall. I struggled mentally in school with stress, and pressure, but field hockey has always been my clean slate. The place where I go to relieve that pressure, where I leave everything mentally off the field and come on and give it my all, leaving every physical aspect there. As a student, I am hardworking, organized, and maintain a good work ethic. I do better when I have a support system which is where field hockey came into place. I strive to be better and to learn new things on and off the field. As a player, I have learned lessons; as cliche as it sounds, never give up. I firmly believe you need to work on a challenge and mistakes to become better. I have been told that my energy is what draws out my teammates confidence. It helps them instill the attitude needed to come head-on with the challenge in good spirits and trust. I feel that I can be an asset to a collegiate team as much as having field hockey in my life would be an asset to me.
