Playing on the 2019 Misfits House team for WNY Whalers was one of the most influential and exciting experiences I have had while playing this sport. We took home 1st in our pool, with a 9-2-1 overall and came 3rd over all between both pools. We were just a bunch of girls who didn't have a place on a school team (due to our schools not forming teams for this particular league) and we managed to all work together and come 3rd out of 22 teams between both pools. It's amazing what a group of girls can accomplish when all have one thing in common, and that's love for the sport we play. Coming from a team who doesn't do well against other teams and doesn't have a strong bond between each other, makes it feel really good to be out there with a team that does care for one another (even if we had just met) and be able to learn from and work with these girls to reach for a goal that we fought so hard for every game and accomplish that goal.
I have felt this feeling one other time from the team I play on at school, and that was when we won the Barb Field Tournament that we host and have been hosting for multiple years now. This was when I played for varsity my sophomore year and we ended up in a shootout where we conquered so much and brought home the 1st place trophy after 4 years I believe. That was my favorite year on Varsity. I was able to play with people who had so much passion and love for the sport. There was so much energy from the team that weekend that it made everything so enjoyable and I will always remember it.
Our coach is always driving us to be our best and always helping us learn and try new things. She has made a big impact on our team and will continue to do great things for Kenmore. She has so much passion and enthusiasm that it makes us all wan't to work harder for her.
I have learned so much from so many people throughout the years I have played and hope to continue growing and learning as an individual and player in more years to come. So many people have influenced me and pushed me to be my best and I am very grateful and thankful to them.
I am hoping to continue to grow as an athlete wherever is best for me. I definitely want to focus and further my athletic career but I do want to make sure that is balanced with my social and school career. I do believe that just because your passionate about one thing, doesn't mean you have to block out and leave behind everything else in your life that makes you, yourself.
