Ava Stunder '24 Recruiting Profile

I am a 2024 graduate looking to continue my Field Hockey experience at the college level. In 8th grade, at the age of 12, I was asked to play at the Junior Varsity level as a starter at Sachem East High School. I took this opportunity seriously and worked very hard all season along side my teammates, earning the honor of Rookie of the Year from my Coaches at the end of the season.  I am currently playing the position of right forward and one of the selected few to be Captain of the JV team.  My strengths are inserting on corners, pulling the ball, ball handling on the field up the right side and having my head on the swivel.  I have a great eye for the game and can read a play well or anticipate my opponents next move.   I also earned the honor of post season Varsity play at the age of 13, training/playing with the Varsity team to Suffolk County Championship, Long Island Championship and New York State Championship contender in Buffalo, NY.

I also play indoor winter ball with Strong Island Field Hockey Club.  This fast-paced, high intensity play has helped to improve my stick skills, endurance and foot work.   I also participate in local clinics and training when my schedule allows.  I am a dedicated lacrosse player in the Spring -Summer months, a game I have playing for 5 plus years.

I am seeking a college that can provide a well balanced academic and athletic experience.  As a student, I have earned Honor Roll status every marking period since 6th grade to present.  I am taking Honors Spanish classes and take great pride in all my academics.  I look forward to the next three years of challenging myself in the classroom,  getting involved with extracurricular activities and giving back to my community.
