Andrew Ednie '20 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing lacrosse since I was seven years old.  I started playing in the Sachem Youth Lacrosse league where I learned to play, as an individual and teammate, and learned to love the sport.  As I have gotten older I have participated with travel lacrosse teams,  Long Island Empire and the Sachem East Lacrosse Club, where I competed against elite talent and learned I could play with anyone.  I was voted captain of the Sachem Middle School lacrosse team by my teammates.  I was also the captain of the Middle School football team for which I played quarterback.  I am a team first player, never looking to pad my stats, always looking to make the team better.

I come from an athletic family.  My father played college lacrosse at St. John's University and SUNY Geneseo.  My mother swam competitively through High School.  I have an uncle who played lacrosse at Hobart College - was a 4 time division III national champion, High School and College All-American, National Defensive Player of the Year and was inducted into the Long Island Lacrosse Hall of Fame.   Anther uncle played lacrosse at Bucknell University for 4 years and was a captain his senior year.   My Aunt was a 2 time college swimming All-American.  Another uncle played division III college football and was captain his senior year. 

Lacrosse, and other sports, have helped me understand what hard work and commitment are and how they will be needed to move on to the next level of my sports and academic carrier.  I would enjoy working hard for a college coach who appreciates a team player with a strong understanding of the lacrosse game and a high commitment level.
