Samantha Moran '20 Recruiting Profile

I am  a 5'8"defender from Manorville, NY.  and will graduate with the the class of 2020.  I started playing goalie for Dek and Roller Hockey at a young age. In 7th grade, I started playing field hockey, where I transitioned from goal to defense, which I absolutely love.   I feel that  my years playing goal have given me a perspective of the game that sets me apart from other defenders.   

I am currently on the Eastport South Manor High School Varsity team ,  I have 3 years experience playing on the Strong Island premier club team, and I have also played with the Futures program, Region 4, for the past 3 years.  Numerous coaches have told me that I am a smart field player and that I have impressive defensive skills, with the ability to read and and anticipate a play while positioning myself to defend it properly.

One of my favorite things about field hockey is being part of a team.  I strive to play my best, so that my team may be successful.  I love the sense of accomplishment when a play or move that we have been working on comes together on the field.   

Looking  forward, I am interested in all schools East of the Mississippi River, with an athletic environment where I am able to make an impact on a team.   Ideally,  I would like to be at a school with a Strong Environmental Science program and a great "college town" atmosphere.
