At 12, I was pulled up to play Varsity and was the youngest Varsity goalie in New York State. As a junior this season, I had 198 saves (89% save rate) and have the highest saves of any keeper on Long Island, with more than 570 saves in my high school career. I was selected to the All-Long Island First Team, awarded the All-Tournament title for the second year in a row for outstanding play during a championship game, and received All-County, All-Conference and All-Division honors. I was very thankful to be selected to Newsday's All-Long Island First Team (1 of 12 players/ 1 of 2 goalies). Field hockey is my biggest passion and my goal is clear: to play field hockey at an academically challenging college and to excel at it.
One of my greatest strengths is how I communicate with my teammates on the field. In a game, you will definitely hear me. As a decisive and assertive player, I claim the ball and do everything in my power to keep it out of my goal. I relay information to my entire team to optimize the play at hand and am constantly encouraging and guiding my teammates. I have the ability to analyze an offensive play before it happens and to be a shuffle or two ahead of a shot. When I play my game and am in control, my team follows suit. I constantly push myself and others around me to give 110%.
If I were to describe myself in three words I would say: fierce, driven, and eager. I am forever hungry for more knowledge or greater skill and I believe I have identified who I am with the aid of field hockey. Whether on the field or in the classroom, I am my strongest critic and I am constantly pushing myself to be the best I can be.
Outside of field hockey, I am an IB Diploma Candidate and have a 4.0 GPA. I spend my time with extracurriculars like Quiz-Bowl, Model UN, Chorus, and star in my school's musical productions every year. I also volunteer with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Long Island and i-tri, both programs that support at-risk adolescents.
I know pressure, on and off the field. I can handle it. The summer following my freshman year, my dad passed away from ALS after a three-year fight. Recovering from a hard year, I fell behind in the recruiting process but I have maintained an A average throughout and I have never given up.
Under the guidance of a great coach, a focused and motivated team, and in a competitive environment, I know that I will continue to flourish and grow exponentially as an athlete, a student and a person.
