Hi, my name is Abigail but I go by Abbie. I am currently a junior at Tioga Central High School. I've had a field hockey stick in my hands since I was three. I first started when I would hit a ball around with my too big stick while my mom coached our school’s junior varsity team. I started playing hockey at the age of 5. During this time I was part of a newly formed youth program. After three years, my school broke away and started their own youth program co-founded by my mom. I played with this program for two years before I was able to play for my school’s modified team. I have played field hockey for my school’s program for 5 years. Even though our team is small and inexperienced we work together to get better all the time. Though I’ve been playing field hockey for my entire life, I never really understood how complicated and fun the game could be until I joined the WNY travel team in 2021. Ever since I’ve been eager to play and have learned more than I could imagine. In 2024, I joined the Southern Tier Storm team to try and find a better fit for my playing style. I have made many new friends and have learned much more about working as a team from them. I have enjoyed spreading my love of field hockey by volunteering with the youth program during the regular season and other camps held by them. Field hockey is very important to me but I know that I am a student first and I strive to achieve good grades. My current average is a 4.0 and I am currently the salutatorian of my class. As I continue to become better at field hockey, with the help of my coaches and teammates, I look forward to finding my perfect college team!
