I am a 5'6" field hockey player who plays all three positions and is from Brockville, Ontario, Canada. I began my career playing at my College in South Africa from the age of 11, where I played on the travelling team each year until I moved to Canada in 2017. While there is no high school field hockey where I live in Ontario, I have found solutions. I train on my own with an NHL hockey trainer who lives in my town. Several times a week I drive 1.5 hours each way to play for a club team in Ottawa during their indoor and outdoor seasons. Also, I have been selected as a member of the Ontario Provincial field hockey team at both the U15 and U18 levels. During the winter months, when time allows it, I travel to US-based tournaments and play as a guest player for teams if the opportunity is available. I love playing competitive field hockey, and I will continue to devote myself to finding opportunities to play.
In terms of college, I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the classroom and field. I am interested in the fields of criminology and law, so I would like to pursue a university with a very good academic reputation. I aspire to pursue a law degree in the future. Ideally, my athletic environment would be one where I could play regularly and at a competitive level. Financial assistance is going to be very important to me in the college selection process. While I would prefer to attend a college in or near the US Northeast region, as it is closer to my home; I would be willing to travel farther to a school with less out of pocket expense.
