I was introduced to field hockey as a sixth grader during an introductory clinic offered at the high school. Our school district did not have a junior high field hockey program but I continued to participate in the high school clinics when they were offered. I joined our high school field hockey team as a freshman and started that season. My high school team did not have a win in more than four years prior to my freshman year. That year we changed the program around making it to districts and being the only freshman to play.
My sophomore year I began playing on a club team. I enjoyed playing at the higher level and learning new techniques. I plan to continue with the club team this year as well. I take any opportunity to attend college clinics in order to improve my abilities. I also participate in competitive gymnastics and track and field. I am a captain on my gymnastic team. As a leader it is important to motivate teammates and help them reach their full potential. My goal for this year is to be named captain of my high school field hockey team. I am interested in playing field hockey at the collegiate level. My positive attitude and personality as well as my determination will be a beneficial addition to your team.
