I am in the class of 2021. As a 10th grader, I was a Varsity starter and played both midfield and forward for the Hempfield field hockey team. We are Section 1 in the Lancaster-Lebanon League. I play on both U16 and U19 teams for my club team Alley Cats, based in Palmyra. Although I play year round hockey, I am also involved in both winter and spring track and field, which I feel keeps me conditioned for the field hockey season. I feel that coaches consider me adaptable in both field hockey and track. If a coach needs me somewhere where I usually don’t play, I do not ask questions or complain I just do it, and to the best of my ability. I also feel that coaches consider me teachable. I really enjoy learning different techniques to improve my stick work or shots on goal and I try them out during scrimmages and games. During games, I am determined to learn from my mistakes and prepare myself to become better for the next game. I also strive to help my teammates become better. The younger players seem to feel comfortable asking me questions, and I will answer their questions to the best of my ability or demonstrate how to do a skill. I was raised to have a strong work ethic. The effort I put out in practice has got to be 100% because if I don't, I know that I won't put 100% effort into a game. I think it is very important to encourage my teammates who are younger than me because they are going to be the strength of the team when I am a senior. My goal when I am a senior is to be top 2 in the LL League Section 1. I currently hold a 3.5 GPA. I enjoy helping out my church and I work part-time babysitting. My goal is to find a college that challenges me both academically and athletically, and gives me the opportunity to continue playing hockey at the collegiate level. My goal is to find a coach who wants to help me become a better individual both on and off the field as I begin the next phase of my life.
