Sawyer Marten '22 Recruiting Profile

I started playing golf at the age of 4 with my Dad and Pops.  One summer I participated in a golf camp at Four Seasons Golf Course run by pro Jason Przystup.  In addition to the camp Jason had me play on the PGA Junior Golf League team.  Even though I was much younger than most it introduced me to tournament golf in a great atmosphere of learning and competition.  This experience peaked my interest in competitive golf, I’ve been practicing and learning ever since.  

This fall I completed my junior season on the Hempfield High School golf team.  I have been the number one player all three years and in the past two seasons I’ve become a leader on the team by mentoring younger players. I’ve been a Section 1 Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star all three years and in 2019 I was an All-League selection.  I’ve qualified for Districts all three years and in 2018 I qualified for Sectionals.  

In addition to high school over the past five years I have been playing the Lancaster County Junior Golf Tour, Philly Tour and Buckeye Tour.  During this time I have won seven tournaments with numerous high finishes. In 2019 I participated in the Optimist Junior International Golf Championship at Doral in Miami, FL.  My combination of high school and junior golf has given me valuable experience and I continue to work hard on both my mental and physical game every day.

Along with my passion for golf I have always had a strong interest in computers and technology.  My goal for college is to major in Computer Science with a focus on either programming or cyber security.
