My name is Keely McCue and I am a senior at Chariho High School in Rhode Island. I have been playing field hockey for all four years of my high school career and I look to find a school where I can continue on through college. I play as a forward on the varsity team for my school, I have been playing straight varsity since my sophomore year and playing varsity games since my freshman year. My freshman year, I received the most valuable player award for offense on the junior varsity team. My sophomore year I was voted for one of the captains on the junior varsity team before being quickly moved up to straight Varsity. Our team was also given a sportsmanship award nominated by all of the referees in the state of Rhode Island. My junior year, I received the most valuable player award for offense on the varsity team as well as an honorable mention award nominated by my coaches and the Rhode Island National Coaches Association. My junior year, I was also one of three players nominated out of the team to play at the Rhode Island all-star game for all divisions. I have a grade point average of 3.95 and I rank 57 out of the 250 students in my class. Junior year, I was enrolled in all honors classes as well as two AP courses, in History and English and this current year I am enrolled in all honors classes as such as two AP sciences: AP Physics and AP Biology. I am very interested in playing field hockey college because I wish to continue playing field hockey at a competitive college level and to continually improve my skills individually and as a whole team.
I have never lost interest in field hockey. I am proud to say that field hockey has been and will always be a major part of my life. It continues to teach me the morals of good sportsmanship, friendship, leadership, and determination. Field hockey has given me confidence, and the chance for discoverance. Continuing to play field hockey with passion and pride, I wish to play at a college level and represent my future school with the skills and values I have learned with my growing experience.
Immediately following my junior season and especially during these uncertain times of the Governor's stay-at-home orders, I have been practicing my skills outside in order to improve upon myself and for next season. Practicing all throughout the winter in the snow, downpours, and exhausting temperature has given me such a benefit in the long run, finishing my senior season with new and improved skills. Learning to take advantage of the situation and use this time to continue to improve benefits me both mentally and physically in order to prepare for my future as a student athlete.
I am looking for an institution that can fit my academic needs as well as give me the opportunity to represent the field hockey team at a college level. My academic and athletic skills as well as my leadership, perseverance, and loyalty can help assist your team in the future as a potential recruitment and to help fulfill my future goals as a student athlete.
