Receiving a spot on my middle school field hockey team on my first year playing in 7th grade showed me how dedication to something pays off in the future. Before becoming a field hockey player I was a dancer and I had stopping dancing going into my 7th grade year. Without my best friend encouraging me to try out for field hockey, I probably would have never fallen in love with the sport. I love the rush of adrenaline I get from field hockey whether it is from doing a successful dodge skill, scoring a beautiful goal, or hearing the buzzer go off indicating that you have won in overtime.
While my middle school team was flourishing in winning City Championships, my high school team experience is vastly different. However, I believe that while my high school team was not very successful, it only showed me how to become not only self-driven, but also a leader. Becoming a captain as a freshman on my JV school team and then making the Varsity team my sophomore year has also taught me discipline in waking up at 5:30 a.m for practice, courage for leading a team, and creativity in making plays on the field. With my junior season coming up, I will motivate everyone on my team to put in the work now so that it can be seen by others later.
While field hockey is the biggest part of my life, I also take the time to create and maintain strong bonds with not only my team, but everyone in my life. Additionally, a huge fraction of my time is dedicated to academics. I have become very interested in sciences such as Environmental Studies and Biomedical Sciences. I am looking for a school and career that challenges me to achieve great accomplishments academically so that I can further become the best version of myself.
