Personal Statement

I am looking for a college that will provide me a well rounded education with lots of opportunities to explore, grow and ultimately prepare me for my role in the greater community after college. Education is the primary reason for attending any college and athletics is one avenue to assist me in attaining my goal of achieving my education.  However my passion for dissecting defenses, providing leadership on the field and playing football is a driving force in my life.

I would be an asset to any team that is looking for a hard working athlete that wants to be an integral and dynamic member of the team. My ability to focus on instruction given by coaches, and teachers allows me analyze, internalize and execute lessons and concepts quickly and effectively. Through out my educational years, school has not come easy to me and I have had to work hard and learn different means and methods to assist me in understanding what is being taught.

I live on a small farm in Central Alberta, Canada which has provided me with a solid work ethic and ability to work under adverse conditions. Living on a farm has taught to think on my feet and be a problem solver.  When I was 7 yrs old, I wanted to buy a dirt bike so I talked to my parents and they helped me start the "Chicken Coop Co.". I bought chickens and sold eggs to raise enough money to buy a dirt bike with in a year.  I feel that my family has been a strong influence in who I am today and who I will be in the future.

My parents have always supported me in my dreams but tempered their support with reality and the need to work hard to achieve my goals. My parents and family have sacrificed time, money and sleep to give me the ability to pursue my dreams as an athlete and for this I am extremely grateful for the role models that they are to me.

I believe that each of us has a responsibility to those around us and working in the community to help organizations and groups with my talents is important.

Life is full of change and uncertainty, however the one thing I can guarantee, is my commitment to being the best Son, Student, Athlete and giving back to the community at Large.
