I am a defensive/ offensive lineman on the Berkeley High School’s football team in Berkeley, CA. I started playing football my freshman year of high school. Before that, in my seventh grade year I told myself that I wanted to become a football player in college hoping to make it to the NFL. Due to various circumstances, I was never able to play during my middle school years and decided that nothing would stop me from playing in high school; it was a passion that I intended to pursue. The last two games of my freshman football season I was ineligible because of academic struggles. Emotionally this tore me down, however, academically it was an eye opener. In this moment I knew that I needed to work on the improvement of my grades. Although my grades may not have been as high as I wanted them to be throughout my previous high school years, I am currently working really hard to keep steady grades for the remainder of my high school year. I reached out to a program, Rise, that is helping me get on the right track in school. This program helps broaden students options following high school by helping with homework, writing college recommendations, letting us see things outside of what we would normally see. I am a great candidate because I will work is hard as I can to reach my goals.
