Hello, my name is Luke Swiggett. My goal for college is to swim at a Division 1 school. I am very versatile in my strokes. I range from 50 free to 400 IM. My best events are the 100 and 200 back but I can definitely swim other events at a high level. From a character standpoint, I am a caring person who likes to joke around but I am extremely focused when needed. Another good characteristic is that I am resilient and don't let disappointments affect my future events. Instead, I use the letdown as motivation to be better, and to date, I have nearly always met the goals I set for myself. I swim in a very competitive league and have achieved at the highest level, including 5 Far Western first-place finishes, AAAA time standards in each age bracket since I was 10, and have been selected multiple times to the Pacific Coast All-Star Team.
I value academics along with athletics and want to achieve high goals in academics. I think that athletics and academics go hand in hand and both benefit each other. A healthy relationship with athletics leads to success in academics and vice versa. I want to be in an environment where I feel good and can express myself, and I am looking for a coach who sees my potential clearly and can help me achieve the best I can be. I am very close to my current coach, who swam at Cal. She challenges me constantly but is also fun and inspirational. I respect her so much and hope for a similar relationship at whatever school I attend.
