Who am I, I am Ilyas Abdullah a young man who started off in a 2 parent household to now a Single Parent Household! Mother who was raised in a Baptist home and my father who was raised Muslim. I love my life as a Muslim man, my mother always stated to me and my sister will have the best of both worlds and celebrate both Religious Holidays. I am an honest person who strives to be truthful, kind, understanding and considerate of people and their feelings. I always reflect on what I can do to help my family and the community. As I reflect, I feel my challenge is my Asthma. I had a near death experience back in April 2021 where I had an Asthma Attack and stopped breathing and my mother had to perform CPR on me. I don’t recall at least 36 hours of my life during that time. It’s a continuous battle but it’s controlled but it can at times affect my studies and grades and sometimes even sports. Football is my love and I love everything about it. The rush, the contact, team morale and a brotherhood. My football team is my second family. But being an Asthmatic Athlete I will and always take the appropriate steps to make sure I make up work, participate in credit recovery classes and even summer school. My goal is to overcome adversity, looking to do well in my classes, and still be able to do well academically in all of my classes while playing sports and going through tough situations. Also want to make my mother and family proud and walk the stage. It will also show my siblings that they can do it too. Once I graduate, I will go to college and join clubs and play Football in college. I will find an organization close to the school where I can volunteer and apply for the Nursing Program so I can become a Pediatric Nurse.
