My name is Asia Taylor. I've been running since elementary but I haven't joined a team till last year, 2019. I joined the track and field team at Susan Miller Dorsey High, my Sophomore year. It was my dream and interest in track. Growing up always running, and of course enjoyed running, around my house, and my neighborhood. I participated in a few running programs throughout Elementary and the beginning of my freshman year at Westchester Enriched Sciences Magnet High School. Growing up I never knew anything about track. I have received so many compliments about my form and speed and sooner or later one of my friends at the time told me I should run track with her and so I did, at Dorsey High school while we were attending CATCH High school, since both schools worked together. However, once I actually joined the team, I realized that this is why I love running, releasing my tensions and stress and only worrying about winning on the field. I made sure every meet and practice, I left everything on the field so I can give my all. I learned more about people and myself. Track has made me stronger, physically and mentally. It taught me life has it’s ups and downs but always another chance to fix my mistakes or do something better than I did the last time . Track has prepared me for wins and losses of disappointment. No matter how many times I wanted to give up, I strive to do my best, with the love of teamwork and surrounding myself with positive people that motivates me.
