Ever since I was eight years old, I have known that I want to become a doctor. I have had many opportunities to go to medical training drills and symposiums, and through those events I have been able to see firsthand what it is like to work in the medical field. Each and every experience further motivates me in my quest to become a doctor. Once I set my mind to something, I work as hard as possible to be the best. During his 2018 NFL Hall of Fame inauguration speech, Jerry Kramer said, “You can, if you will.” That quote reminds me that the only thing stopping me is myself. I am determined and have the integrity to work hard even on days when I might not want to put forth that effort. I played my first season of football during the fall of my eighth grade year. During the summer leading up to that season, I worked out almost every day to prepare for what I knew would be a tough season. Once I set foot on the field for the first time, I never wanted to leave. Through football, I have learned that I do not like to give up, and that once I set my mind to something, I will achieve it. During my freshman year, I started at tight end but was moved to tackle due to injuries on our team. I did not particularly like playing tackle, but I still worked my hardest to be my best for my brothers playing beside me. I knew that for our team to be successful and win a league championship, everyone, including myself, needed to do their job. My favorite part about football is the amount of teamwork required for success. Every player must execute their job for a play to be successful, but the level of execution required cannot be achieved unless there is trust. Each player must trust that those beside him will also do their job. Although I am not as naturally gifted as some other individuals, I make up for it through my hard work. I work so that my teammates can trust in me to get the job done when the game is on the line. I know I must be my absolute best to achieve success, whether it be in the classroom, on the football field, or in life. I believe that I show my determination through my academic achievements as well as through football. I am taking the highest level classes available to me, and working hard to maintain straight A’s. My goal is to go to an academically challenging college to further my education and prepare me for a career in medicine while playing football and developing as a man.
