Dear Prospective Coach and Sphere of Influence,
Here are some events that have shaped my life and helped to make me a good candidate for your team and uniquely different from other recruits you are considering.
When I was 6-months old my parents submerged me in a "Bubblers" infant learn to swim class and I have continued to swim competitively for both my Club and High school teams. In my family, it was no secret that I have always desired to play football because my dad played nose guard for the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA) and I have always seen my dad as a "Baller".
My parents did not allow me to play football until high school. They both were competitive athletes and they wanted to instill in me the values and discipline that come from playing team sports. 5:00 am swim practices have prepared me to withstand the physical demands of contact football and the mental requirements to be a coachable athlete.
During my 1st game in the 10th grade, I broke my 1st finger and I was cleared to play after seven weeks! I participated in the last three games and learned a valuable lesson: the number of games I played in did not lessen my desire to play football.
I was very successful during my 2nd season, in the 11th grade. I played in every game; injury free! I was the starting right offensive guard, I was on the punt team, I was the starting left defensive tackle, I was on the punt return team, and I was the up back for the field goals. The only time I was not on the field was for kick-off and kick-off returns.
As a result of my hard work, I earned first-team honors on offense for my conference and defensive player of the year for my team.
I have worked very hard to transform myself from a highly competitive swimmer into a superior middle linebacker. I have been committed to a weightlifting program during the off-season and regular weekly sessions with my Personal Performance position trainer. To further enhance the development of my football skills, I spent three (3) weeks during the summer of 2019 at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
As I enter my 3rd and final high school football season my goals are to help our team win our division, the conference championship and to earn a full football scholarship to attend a D-1 University. I intend to pursue a degree in English, then a Ph.D. in Pharmacy and a career as a Patent Attorney.
Finally, you should be aware that Achievement runs in my family: my mom and dad are both attorneys (my dad is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc) and my sister is entering her 3rd year of study to be a doctor at Xavier University in New Orleans.
PS.
My dad and sister are 1982 and 2017 graduates of McKinley Technology, H.S.
