Aloha, my name is David Kekoa Kalili. “Today I will do what others won’t, so that tomorrow I can do what others can’t", by Jerry Rice is a quote that I live by. For as long as I can remember, my family has been season ticket holders for the University of Hawaii football program. I have always enjoyed tailgating before the games, but watching the athletes play football jump started my love for the game. I knew that playing college football would make my parents even more proud of me than they already are. I want to go above and beyond and play Division 1 college football as a short term goal and play in the NFL as a long term goal.
I first started playing football when I was 11 years old. By that age, a lot of kids had more experience than I did, which is the reason why I work hard everyday to improve myself both on and off the field. In order to set myself apart from my peers, I work out everyday and earn excellent grades. In college I am determined to do whatever it takes to maintain all A’s and graduate with a bachelor's degree in 4 years.
I love to play football and I have outstanding passion for the game. I’m very coach-able, competitive, and disciplined. Over the past 5 years of playing football, I have gained confidence and have grown as a player and a leader. During the initial shut downs due to COVID, I took the initiative to coordinate and lead practices for my high school football team because I believe we can be better by working hard to achieve a common goal both in the classroom and on the football field.
