I would describe myself as a positive, hard working leader and extremely driven multi-sport athlete. I started playing football as a freshmen in high school (2017) and became a starter on the varsity football team in my freshman year. In my sophomore year, I was appointed a team Captain. I love the technical challenge of football and trying to learn my opponents' game plan. I've competed at a provincial level in baseball (2018 provincial champions) and golf. I've been playing hockey for 10 years, playing on AA and high school teams. My goal is to play football to my highest potential.
My 2018 Winnipeg High School Football League (WHSFL) accomplishments include:
-Nominated as WHSFL Defensive Player of the Year (the only Sophomore nominee)
-AA Division All Star Game 2nd Team Defence
-Week 6 Defensive Player of the Week (October 12)
-Most Blocked Kicks across AAA, AA, and A Divisions
Team Awards:
-Miles MacDonell Team Most Valuable Player (2018)
-Miles MacDonell Team Outstanding Back Award (2018)
My coaches describe me as a hard working leader, a team first kind of player. I am a coachable, smart, athlete and always looking to improve. My Coaches say that I am an athlete that leads by example, and that I motivate my teammates. I am always looking to improve my game, and I won the Most Improved Player award as a AA Bantam Railcat (2017). I'll never back down from a challenge and will always put my teammates first.
Academically, I am enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) academic program with Miles Macdonell Colleigate and received an Honour Roll Award (2017). I am also enrolled in French immersion and am fully bilingual in French. I study hard to keep my honour roll status. On weekends, I have tutored middle school students in various subjects. In my community, I have volunteered by shovelling elders snow, and cutting grass.
Ultimately, I would like to pursue my dream of playing football at the college level. I would like to go to a school that can fit my academic needs but where I can play football too. I want to make my parents and everyone that helped me along the way, proud.
Thank you for your time,
Evan
