Personal Statement

Coming from a family of athletes I am obliged to continue my family's legacy of dominating in sports but specifically football. Although I was born and currently live in Malaysia, a country where we only have flag. I have always been attracted to the sport of football, my interest in the sport was sparked when I watched Cam Newton beat Bama and win the Heisman, from that moment on I was drawn to the game and felt a burning urge to play but due to the lack of the sport here I was restrained, being only able to play catch with my friends. As I reached middle school and started to get into sports, I took it into my own hands to play football. I spent all of my savings on an old Riddell speed and an old pair of Riddell pads and started to train myself. Be it through watching players like Megatron or Deandre Hopkins I slowly learned the game and decided that receiver was the position with me as it best suited my tall build and speed. Around this time I also joined a flag league where I dominated and won multiple league MVP awards. I also met a coach who used to play at Kansas State and he helped me develop my skills to the point where I felt like I could play tackle. Unfortunately due to the Covid 19 pandemic I was robbed off of 2 tackle seasons I was intended in playing at an American high school but this didn't stop me from grinding and constantly getting ready to walk on at college if it came to it. I have overcome all adversities to play the sport thanks to my dying passion for the game and I look forward to stepping out on a college field and showcasing all I've worked for.
