I am currently a senior at Rosemount high school due to graduate in 2021. This year I have played both offense and defense combination; mainly focused on defensive of tackle and nose-guard, but have had to step in when asked to and fill at either offensive tackle or guard. I was All-district linemen for 2 years in a row and was voted best line in the district. I am a multi-sport athlete and have earned my second letter my freshman year in wrestling (heavy weight division with a JV record of 18-4 and 4 first place tournament finishes and winning the JV Regional State Championship). My Sophomore year of Wrestling I went 18-4 and won 5 first places in tournaments and winning my second consecutive JV Regional Championship. The third sport I am pursuing is track & field (disc and shot-put) with the intent to letter my freshman year. When I am not competing in sports I am in the weight room. I currently weigh 265 lbs and am 6’.0” with a size 15 shoe.
While living in Texas, I was introduced to football in 5th grade when I was recruited to play on an elite team. I played community, school and FBU football. I lead my 7th grade team to a district championship (with an undefeated record) and lead the conference with sacks and tackles for loss yards. We moved back to Minnesota during the summer between my 7th and 8th grade. This was difficult for me because I had to prove myself to a new organization competing against kids who had played together for years. During this first summer in Minnesota I signed up for speed and strength training at the high school and was recognized by the varsity coaches for my work ethic. I played community football (Rosemount does not offer middle school football) I wrestled (took second place at Junior level) and did track and field where I took first in disc and second in shot-put at districts.
To prepare for College I am taking courses in Math. Science, Advance English and German (earning A’s and B’s). Juggling sports, academics and life in general can be a challenge but I found, within myself and with the support of my father, that I am successful. I am a quiet leader by demonstrating a commitment to give 100% at practices, at competitions and in the classroom. When facing diversity whether on the field, or in the classroom I do the right thing.
My father is my role model. He was a Sergeant in the Army serving active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan (where he was injured and was medically discharged). It was difficult when he was away but even more difficult when my mother divorced him immediately upon his return. My father has custody of my younger brother and me. I learned early (when he was away, when he returned and since) that nothing comes easy, but with hard work and determination goals are reached. While my father finds a job, we are temporarily living with my grandmother. Living with my grandmother, in her small house, has had its ups and downs but I learned about the importance of family.
Playing football has taught me how to work together with teammates to be successful, while wrestling has taught me how individual effort is important for success. My high school goals are to be successful in sports and academics, so I can go to college. I am working hard in both with the goal of earning a scholarship. My goal for college is to earn a degree while playing a competitive sport.
