My name is Laine Stanton. I play for Rosemount High School, True Minnesota, and Team Minnesota. I first picked up a lacrosse stick the summer of 2015. I had danced most of my life, since I was 3. My dad had really been wanting me to try lacrosse because he played when he was younger and all my siblings play, so I finally gave in and gave it a try. I fell in love with lacrosse and ended my 10 year dance career so I could train more in lacrosse. Last year I played JV and was on the Varsity section roster, where we had made it to section championship for the first time. What made me fall in love with lacrosse is the challenges it gives me, the community, and how every game is a unique experience. Being a part of the lacrosse community helps me get through some challenges in life, like being diagnosed with Type One Diabetes.
Last season I decided I wanted to play lacrosse in college. Every lacrosse season continues to bring me joy, so I knew I wasn’t ready to stop playing anytime soon. This motivates me to work hard everyday so that I can play at the highest level. My teammates know I always have their backs. I have a smile on my face while also giving my 100% at each and every practice and game. I have been voted JV captain for the last two years, and aspire to become a leader and captain on Varsity.
I understand the challenges of being a college student athlete. My hard work ethic and time management skills will prepare me for my future endeavors. I’m excited to further my academic and athletic career.
