My name is Eric Wilson. When I play football I am able to focus my competitive spirit and drive in a team setting that is most rewarding. I began playing football, basketball and baseball as soon as the local community organizations would allow me to play. I like to think it was a natural calling, but I am now realizing the influence of family. I grew up looking at a wall of family pictures that included a grandpa playing on a line in college. That was next to a picture of my dad on his Texas high school offensive line; next to that was a picture of my other grandpa, a football coach who has been inducted into the State High School League Hall of Fame.
I have not focused on only football or sports. I sing in the Minnesota Boychoir, play saxophone in my high school band, and have maintained a rigorous academic schedule, taking advanced classes and maintaining a 4.0/4.0 GPA so far. I received 1 of 5 scholarship awards after taking my high school’s placement test, and leadership awards in both choir and band. I have been chosen one of my high school football team’s captains for my junior season. While I will definitely be attending college, I have not yet determined where my academics will take me professionally, although careers in medicine or law interest me most. I hope I am also able to pursue a position on the line of a college football team. I look forward to joining a program where I can continue to grow in academics and athletics.
