My name is Joseph (Joe) Perkins and I am a class of 2020 student-athlete at Madison Ridgeland Academy (MRA) in Madison, MS. At 6' 1" 200 lbs., I start on the Varsity Football Team (MAIS AAAA) at Safety & Wide Receiver. I am a Team Captain and I firmly believe in leading by example in all aspects of my life. I am the oldest of three boys. My parents, Chetonya and Sean Perkins, are the biggest influencers in my life. I have a 4.2 GPA and I am a member of the National Honor Society.
As a Sophomore, I was named All Conference 2nd Team Defense. As a Junior, I was named All Conference 1st Team Defense, All State Defensive Team, and my teammates voted me as one of four Team Captains; I was the only Junior named. I am a member of the MRA Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and I attend Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. I enjoy spending time with my family, playing with my little brothers, being active in my church, and mentoring younger athletes. I have played for the U.S. National Football Team for three consecutive years (2017-2019) and as a Freshman, I played Cornerback in the 2017 FBU Freshman All American Bowl Game in San Antonio, TX
Obtaining a college education is very important to me. My parents and grandparents attended college and earned their degrees. They have set the example that I want to follow. I want to play college football, and my education is just as important. I enjoy all aspects of football, and I believe I will be involved in the sport for a very long time. I know the path I have chosen to become a college student-athlete will be a challenge; however, I firmly believe that "I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens Me."
As a Senior, my academic goals are to maintain my Honor Roll status and to improve my ACT. My athletic goals are to get back to the MAIS AAAA State Championship Game and win State. I firmly believe that I will be an asset to any college program.
