The ability to conquer pain and use it to fuel my passions really makes me who I am. The struggles I faced growing up, I now realize, are very important in the development of my character. They have taught me to push through and somewhat enjoy both sides, good and bad of the grind. My journey started as a third-grader who needed a way to channel his energy in a positive way. It has taken me a while to get to where I am today, but my process is something I wouldn’t change or give away to others. The sport of football was a way to express how I felt about the things I couldn’t control in my life. Now it has made me strong as well as a motivational leader, intelligent, someone who loves, hard-working, and very much dedicated to every process that life has thrown my way. I am these things because of what I’ve learned from others in my life. When it gets hard, I tell myself that nobody better beat me because I beat myself. People come and people go, and through this, I’ve learned to give to others while they’re in my life. This is why I love the sport so much, because of what it means to me. This same mentality is shared with wrestling. The drive to be better, stronger. It is the reason I don’t want to stop. This is who I am and I hope I can use these skills that I have developed over the years to be a great asset for your team, coach.
Just like in sports I have an expectation to do my best with my academics. I plan to major in psychology and minor in sociology. These courses were chosen out of the central idea that is, I want to help people. I’m not sure what form that will be yet but it will happen.
