Personal Statement

My name is Jake Gibbs, and I am a 6’0’ 185 pound senior playing middle linebacker and tight end for my high school football team. As I begin my final year of high school football, I look forward to the possibility of playing in college. I have played tackle or flag football for the last 10 years, and I enjoy it more every year. When I run out onto the field, I am not only working to make myself better but also my team. I am a well-rounded three season athlete. I play for the high school basketball team and played on the varsity team as a sophomore, lettering my sophomore year as well. I also ran track in the spring of my sophomore year and lettered.

For the past three years, I have started for our varsity football program and have been captain of the defense during my sophomore and junior years, and was recently elected captain for my senior year.  I have been named player of the game for defense multiple times. I am not only a three year starter, but I lettered as a freshman, sophomore, and junior.

It is my desire to play linebacker or tight end in college. I am searching for the best blend of high level football and academic excellence. I love to compete and I am an AP student wanting to be academically challenged in engineering and/or math program. I play, practice, and study at one speed - full speed. My main attributes are my work ethic, strength, and desire to win. I love to hit on the field and spend time in the weight room. I am strong in my beliefs and of good moral character. I know that I will make a good addition to the right school's football program and overall college community.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
