My name is Sam Ward. I am a freshman at Skutt Catholic High School. I have played at the most competitive levels of football available to me since age 9. This year I was happy we were able to play football in spite of C19 schedule restrictions.
Team: I like positive teammates and mentor type coaching. I like working hard to achieve and being recognized for doing well. I can handle constructive criticism and learn from my mistakes. I like competing and winning. I hate losing games, making excuses, or teammates who blame others when things don't go well on the field.
Offense: Left Tackle - Our team runs the veer from several formations with zone blocking schemes. I understand the offensive discipline of lineman footwork and communication, reacting to a blitz, and staying focused.
Defense: Defensive tackle. Our team plays 4 man front but flexes to a 5 or 6 at goal-line situations. I cover the A gap.
School, Career and Interests: My career goal is to become a firefighter and serve the community someday. My great grandfather was a fire chief in Omaha and have learned of his many stories. I am wired to help people and to not disappoint those who depend on me. My best subjects in school are Industrial Tech, Science, Art, Biology, and Social Studies. I have a true passion for creating visual art. I have received local, state and national awards for my art entries.
The perfect school for me will offer competitive football, a degree track in Firefighting Science (rescue/EMT) and/or Visual Arts (paint, drawing, or industrial tech).
