Dear Coaches:
Thank you for your interest in reviewing my information. I have loved participating in football from a very young age. I was hooked at the "little loop" division as a seven year old "striper". I was bigger than most kids my age and had to play O line and D line due to my size. I never got to score a touchdown because I was not the small quick kid, but I did not care because I love playing the game.
I continued to play football and became a varsity starter my freshman year at my "home" high school. My home school was very small sometimes, only fielding 16 kids for a varsity game, and we weren't successful, but that did not take away my love of the game. In addition to starting as a freshman on the football team, I also started on the varsity wrestling team, competing at the 220 lb division. My freshman wrestling record was 9-22 and I got pinned many times by older, stronger, and more experienced competitors. I was not discouraged by my record and was determined to improve in the off-season.
At the conclusion of my freshman year, I made the very difficult decision to transfer to a private Catholic School, St. Francis High School (SFHS). This decision was based on my academic future. After discussing my future plans with my parents, I realized that my home school was not properly preparing me for a future that included my anticipated college education. My academic success was not a priority with the school, therefore I transferred to my present school, SFHS, a college preparatory high school.
I have almost completed my sophomore year at SFHS and what a year it has been. The studies at SFHS are far more rigorous than my previous school and I have improved my grades and learned time management. Presently, my GPA is a 3.2. In addition to the more difficult studies, the athletic teams (football and wrestling) are far more competitive. As noted, I was able to start at DT my sophomore season at SFHS and was voted 2nd team All Conference Defense. In addition to my football success, I also competed for the wrestling team. I again started at the 220 lb division, but as a sophomore with an additional year of experience and training. My sophomore record was 31-14 and I won my conference title at the 220 lb division, qualifying me to compete for a NYS Catholic title. I was able to contribute to our team winning the NYS Catholic team title, with a critical pin in my match. I look forward to improving on my record next year, but probably at the HW division. My weight is presently 235 and I anticipate continued strength and size with my workout schedule. There were times this year that were difficult, juggling varsity sports and studies, but I learned proper time management. There were some late nights studying after the "big" game or match, but I did it, and I now know that I can continue to do it at the collegiate level.
My parents have helped me immensely with my success and I want to help them in return. My parents have transported me to practices, workouts, and games. They have stressed the importance of a college education and I want to use my ability in football to assist with my education. My mother is an assistant principal and has encouraged me to always work to the best of my ability in order to get the most from my education. I cannot think of a better way to thank her than by earning my college diploma. My father is a Federal Law Enforcement Officer and has given me an interest to continue my studies in his footsteps. If I'm able to utilize my football ability to ease the college burden on my family, then I would be extremely grateful.
Hopefully after reviewing my information, you can see that I have a strong work ethic and could be a valuable contributor to your college and football team. I look forward to meeting you in person and getting to work.
